Hot Pipes 170. Another great program thanks Steve. Just a comment to add on the ATOS CDs, the second third and forth items played in the program suffer slight but noticeable clicks, rather like an LP record, particularly noticeable on the Justin Levoy track.
Thanks, John. I’ll look into that when I get back home from London. Has anyone else experienced these clicks in those tracks?
John – It seems that the clicks are on the original CDs sent to Hot Pipes. Since the mastering was done by a very experienced audio technician, Bill Lightner (who also mastered many of the Banda CDs), the clicks could have appeared during the CD pressing process. I’m currently following up with the ATOS.
Steve, thanks for the update, I await further news with interest. John.
John, I’ve now heard back from the ATOS. Those clicks were known from the beginning: they are on the original recordings. I would run all of the CD tracks through my declick software, but then that wouldn’t be an honest representation of the product.
Thanks for the further update Steve. When I get the CDs I may try my (Sony) declicking software but I’m not very hopeful of a good result. Alternatively during the dark winter evenings I may have a go at removing the clicks manually.
John.
Hi Steve,
Yes you can hear clicks on the new ATOS CD, hard to believe this was alllowed to happen after the problems with the Atlanta CD.
Regards
Richard
