In regards to the Don Baker recording on the Vaughn organ. I still recall listening to this album when it came out and thinking how different that organ sounded under the control of Baker as compared to Wright. Same organ, different artists, different recording companies. Amazing comparison.
Indeed, Paul. I would think that a lot of the differences can be put down to the excessive EQ that HiFi perpetrated on their recordings. Why did HiFi think that this was necessary, when other companies released LPs with a natural sound? I can’t imagine that home stereo systems in those days had treble-starved speakers.
